Magnum headache

Posted in Beinecke Library, General Modern Collection by beineckepoetry on September 4, 2007

Magnum: die Zeitschrift für das moderne Leben, 1954-1966, was a German/Austrian compendium of images and commentary on modern design, art, architecture, fashion, and lifestyle.
Issue 3, was titled “Wie Weiter?” [What Next?]

And it included a memorable cartoon [titled : “Still no solution!”]

Nice to see a reference here to the legendary Magnum magazine. However, “Wie weiter?” doesn’t translate as “How much further?” but rather as “What next?” (or “Where to go from here?”). Paul Flora, the cartoonist of this lovable piece, is still alive today and has a website up at paulflora.com.
